As the speeder heads away from Davvi's farm, Shep looks through the basket and finds a piece of bread which he happily starts munching on. In between bites he looks at his Master and asks; "You have an idea about who the attacker was, don't you, Master?"

Kiineq is quiet for a while.
Quite a while, actually.
Then he almost sighs.
"Yes. I do."

Shep turns his head sharply towards his Master at the answer. Then he takes another bite while he studies the man. "So who is it?" He asks, his voice making it clear he really thinks the Masters answer was rather stupid.

The Master sends the Padawan one quick glance, when he hears the boy's tone of voice, but doesn't reply right away.
As a matter of fact he stays unusually quiet.
"What do you recall of the Fallen, Padawan?" he finally asks.

Shep raises an eyebrow at the Masters silent pause, but keeps munching contently at his piece of bread, while a big part of his attention is focused on the problem of how to get pets in the Temple. He would really like to have a dog like Teal.
"You think the attacker was one of the fallen?" Shep asks, in way of an answer.

"Answer the question, Shep." Kiineq simply says.
He keeps most of his concentration on driving.

Shep leaves the question of dogs in the Temple as his curiosity gets the better of him. He turns in his seat to look at Kiineq, his piece of bread half forgotten in his hand.
"The Fallen is fallen Jedi, who uses the dark side." Shep starts slowly. "They have been connected to what happened on Jandoon."

"Yes." Kiineq says. "Anything else?"
He looks briefly at Shep.

"Ehr.." Shep says, trying to think of anything else that could be relevant. "They were responsible for what happened to Master Aeon, wasn't they?"

"They were." the tall man replies with a small nod.
He takes a deep breath before he continues.
"The Fallen are led by someone called Drashk. His second is called Varuun Carro."
He pauses.
"Varuun Carro is a red-haired Anzat."

Shep files the names away in his memory. "With a silver lightsabre?" He asks.

Kiineq nods. "Exactly." he says darkly.

"What would a Fallen Jedi be doing on Corellia? And out in the middle of nowhere at that?" Shep asks, taking another bite of his bread. "It doesn't sound very logical.."

"I agree. But that is what we will have to find out." Kiineq replies.
They are nearing the outskirts of Coronet City and the traffic is getting denser.

"Yes, Master." Shep says, looking around for at the different speeders around them with half an eye. "But why do anyone choose some farm out in the middle of nowhere? It can't be to hide the body, can't it? Would it have been easier to hide a body in the middle of the town, somewhere? To attack someone at night, in some dark alley?"

The Master does not reply right away.
Keeping his eyes on the increasingly busy road ahead, he answers: "Why, indeed. The answer to that may be found in the situation itself."
He pauses.
"Do you remember Miss Zynnar saying t hat her attacker wanted her speeder?"

Shep takes a nother bite of the bread in his hand, while considering the question.
"You think he attacked out there 'cause he was forced to it? He crashed out there or something?"
|
|
|
Post by Kiineq Tiran on May 30, 2010 21:05:17 GMT 1
"He might not actually have crashed."
Kiineq glances at his apprentice.
"How do you think Coronet security would have reacted, if they had discovered a Fallen Jedi trying to land in the city?"
|

"Do you really think he would have announced himself as a Fallen Jedi if he had tried to land in the city, Master?" Shep asked with a grin, the Fallen couldn't be that stupid could they?
"But then, maybe he wasn't able to get any fake identity papers."
|

Kiineq shakes his head. "No, of course not." he says.
"Oh, I doubt getting false ID chips and codes would be a problem for someone like the Fallen. But why take the chance of being discovered, when you can land on the outskirts and sneak in, instead?"
|
|
|

"But what if the controllers in Coronet had noticed him landing in the outskirts, wouldn't they have become suspicious?" Shep finishes his piece of bread and starts looking in the basket for more food.

"Not necessarily. Fake ID and a good enough cover story could have convinced them that nothing was out of place." Kiineq replies, as he takes the speeder through the streets.
"Chances are, it would have been easier to just land in the space port, but my guess is he would be keen on not being seen. At least not straight away."
|
|
|

"Well, the not being seen part makes sense. He would probably be rather easy to recognise wouldn't he?"

Kiineq nods. "Indeed."
They have reached a crowded plaza and he finds a place to park the speeder.
The tall man gets out of the speeder and does a quick scan of the plaza, both visually and with the Force. It is, as always, pure habit.

There's a strange, lingering dark presence in the city. Not coming from any person in particular, but more so the feeling of something evil having stayed there not too long ago.

Shep gets out of the speeder at the same time as his Master. He looks around the plaza and reaches out with the Force, feeling his blood run cold for a second. Something is not right here. "Master?" He asked putting his feelings into that one word, not knowing how else to express it.

Kiineq tenses almost visibly, as he picks up on the dark presence. He narrows his eyes and focuses on it, to try and get a sense of direction.
He does not reply to the Padawan, but Shep should be able to tell that his Master is well aware of the 'wrong-ness'.

As they focuses their senses, it becomes even more clear that the feeling isn't coming from a being, but is lingering around the plaza, darker alleys and a rather suspicious looking inn nearby. Something evil has been roaming here

Shep narrows his eyes and looks at his Master for a second. It always annoys him when his Master keeps his thoughts to himself in stead of sharing, like Shep is some kind of kid or something. The Padawan looks around studying the plaza and the people and creatures he can see.

Kiineq takes a deep breath and exhales slowly. He keeps trying to pinpoint the source.
When he feels Shep's glance, he looks at the boy. "Tell me what you sense" he says in a low voice.
