"So your former superiors call my sister a barbarian?" Aeré asks politely, but keeps a chill to her voice. "That sounds like some superiors."

"I suggest you take it up with either them or your sister then, Senator. Whoever you find the most in need of a reprimand." This is going to be a long day. No, wait. It already has been a long day(!).

"Perhaps I will." Aeré nods slowly. "But not now. I have things to do." She falls silent for a moment, obviously wondering about something. "Since you have been in the army, Vall - do you want to be called Seth or Vall? Or Mr. Vall?"

Seth's face does not show any hint of surprise as she changes the subject. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean he is not surprised. "Whichever you prefer, Senator. Seth is fine, but if you prefer to keep a more formal tone, then by all means do as you please."

"I prefer a formal tone to be honest with you, Mr. Vall," Aeré answers. "I don't want to get too personal with my body guard. On the other hand, I wouldn't be obliged to call you by your last name."

Well, the point, perhaps? Sometime soon?
He raises an eyebrow, waiting for her to finish her one-sided debate about his name. One thing is for sure, he is not going to remind her now that he has four names.

"How about I call you Seth? And then I'll call you Vall, if you have done something, I don't approve of?" Aeré finally asks, smiling politely - but still as cold as a morning on Hoth.

...
"Fine. You do that." he answers drily.

"Excellent." Aeré nods, still smiling coldly. "Now, back to my question, Seth. You've never met my sister in the army?"

Question? What question??
"Only a few times, Senator."

"So I figured." Aeré nods slowly. "Then perhaps you would know, what they say about her in the army?"

"What do they say about your sister in the army, Senator?" Seth is not sure where this is going, but he has got a feeling that he doesn't like it.

"I would like you to tell me." Aeré leaves her speech be and looks at him. "I'm curious. My sister doesn't tell me that much of her carrier in the army."

"Well, if she doesn't want you to know, she doesn't want you to know. What I have heard about her usually has to do with her temper. Again, Senator, I barely know her."

"Her temper. That wouldn't surprise me." Aeré looks back at her speech. Still missing two pages. "Tanné has always had a foul temper. But I take it you already know, keeping yourself updated on everything in my life."

"That is my job, senator." Seth answers flatly.

Aeré looks at him with her piercing steelgrey eyes. "Some job, isn't it?" She smiles weakly at him.

Seth looks back at her. He doesn't smile, but then again he rarely does.
He nods slightly.
"Indeed it is..."

"And you are a lucky man to get such a job." Aeré smiles a little more now, but her eyes are still freezing. Perhaps she is making fun of him.

"Perhaps. Do you believe in simple luck, senator?" Still no emotion to be seen in his face.

"No. I believe that you were chosen for this job, because you have the right qualities needed in a body guard." Aeré folds her hands. "Though I do not entirely understand why you would go into this business so young. Don't you have any family at all?"
|
|
|

"I believe I already have told you about my family." He can't see why she has to bring up his age. He is thirty, for crying out loud!

"I wasn't referring to your parents," Aeré answers drily. "At your age, you should have been married and have at least one child."
|
|
|
Post by Seth Vall on Sept 24, 2009 20:23:47 GMT 1
"Should? Well, not everyone follows that rule, I guess." Seth arches an eyebrow slightly, looking at her. "I'm not married. And I don't have any children."

|

"You should." Aeré continues to look into his eyes. "Or else you are just living a shell of a life. Don't you have a girl somewhere?" She smiles cooly.

Look who's talking... Seth is very close to saying a few things, he very well knows he shouldn't say. But only close to. "No. Not at the moment. Senator."

Aeré looks at him for a long time. A very long time. Without even blinking those piercing, steelgrey eyes of hers. Just before the silence becomes too embarassing, she says something: "Should I perhaps introduce you to my sister?"

... Bad joke. Not even funny.
"No thanks, senator. I am just fine."

Aeré smiles cooly. "I know that. I was just testing you." She turns to write on her speech again. "Believe, I would not set anybody up with my sister."

"Testing me, senator? For what? My preferences with women?" Seth shakes his head. Then he casts a glance at her not yet finished speech. "Were you not busy concentrating on your work, senator?"
