Name: Leyla Mir
Age: 50 standard years
Race: Human female
Height: 165cm
Haircolour: Dark brown but with small hints of grey.
Eyecolour: Grey blue
Profession: Jedi Master
Homeworld: Hapes – but grew up on Coruscant.
Preferred weapon: violet bladed lightsabler
Appearence:
Leyla wears a long, dark blue tunic, that goes down to her feet, worn like a dress, only with tapps and obi in the same colour. Her long brown hair is set in a not in the back of her head, braided in several small braids.
She's small in stature both in height and weight. She's never been a fan of the physical parts of her training, but she can as much as defend herself, both physically and with the Force.
The time she spend living in exile, has given her an older appearence. She has small wrinkles in the corners and under her eyes. But she still appears as young in spirit as she did in her younger years.
Personality:
Leyla has always been a confident, curious and trustworthy person. She's always been there for her friends, if they have concerns and worries and has always wanted to offer her guidance. But she also has a temper, to the concern of others. Sometimes she can get a little too excited about things and can end in her getting frustrated and irritated.
But the loss of her Padawan and her following life in exile, made her stronger in mind. She learned not to let her emotions run wild, and with that controling her frustration. Being aware of her temper, she believes that no one will ever be truly finished with learning about the Force, no matter how old they are and that concerning personal feelings, it sometimes takes a little more work to control, than just by meditating.
She's one of the Jedi-teachers aboard the Chu'unthor and enjoys her part as their teacher. She's always keen on not getting frustrated around the Younglings, so they won't grow unsure of themselves because of her. She admits that she's not as patient as Master Yoda, but she does her best.
She's certain that she never wants to take a Padawan again. She saw her failure with the only Padawan she's had, as a sign, she's not meant to do it. But she sees her job in helping the Younglings, filling the spot in her mind, that even though she's not personally taking a Padawan, she's sharing her knowledge with others, just as she would, if she had an Apprentice.
She likes the company of others, but sometime prefer to be alone to meditate or study. Concerning the Force, the Jedi will never stop learning, is what she believes.
Background:
Leyla was born to an Hapan diplomatic family, who considered themselves to be above the ”normal” population, where the only superiors would be the royal family of Hapes. She was born to wealth and glamour, and most of her family would be considered as snobbs.
But her mother, Keyna, who was a lot different then the rest of the family, was keen on still keeping some sense in her daughter's mind. From a very early age, Keyna brough Leyla along to other planets, that had refugee camps and homeless shelters, where Keyna did voluntary work.
A year old, and just a toddler, Leyla and her mother went to Corellia, to visit one of these camps. Leyla enjoyed playing with the children who lived there. It was during this visit, that a togrutan Jedi Knight, named Na'tok, took interest in this girl. He understood that there was something different about this girl, who was running around among the other children. Not only that she seemed happier than the others, but also that she could sense the Force. When he saw Leyla with Keyna, he understood the difference between Leyla and the other children, but was only more interested in taking her with him to the Jedi-temple. He approached Keyna, but she rejected, and left the planet in quite a hurry, back to Hapes. But Na'tok tracked them down, and visited, to speak with Keyna and her husband. He explained the case, but in the end, it was up to Keyna, whether he could take her with him. In the end, she agreed to, letting him take Leyla. As a farewell gift for her daughter, Keyna gave Na'tok one of the known rainbow gems from Galinore, to give to Leyla some day, as a memory of her homeworld. Not sure about it, because of the strict laws in the Order, Na'tok did take the gem with them, and kept it, in the following years.
Leyla's Youngling period at the Jedi-Temple was very happy. She had a lot of friends and she was a great student of the Force. Her curious nature, always gave her the wish to learn more.
At the age of twelve, she was chosen by Na'tok as his apprentice. Ever since, he had brought Leyla to the temple, he had followed her training closely. When she was ready for building her own lightsaber, the day came, when he gave her the gem, that Keyna had given him. He didn't tell her, who had given it to him, but said that it came from her homeworld. She was proud of that she actually now had something, that came from her homeworld and used the gem as the focusing crystal in her new lightsaber and it produced a violet blade.
During her training with Na'tok, they grew a strong, confident friendship. They travelled many places together, not being based on Coruscant for too long a time. When not called on missions, they travelled a lot in the Outer Rim, to study the life of other populations outside the Republic. She became a strong Jedi and a good negotiater. She was knighted at the age of 25.
During her first years as a Knight, she spended a lot of time, at the temple on Coruscant, until she took her first apprentice, when she turned 30. She had spend a lot of the time, preparing for that day, when she could use her own knowledge and skills to train a Padawan herself.
Unfortunately her Padawan, who was a young male twi'lek, didn't get to become a Knight himself. On a recoinassance mission to a planet in the Outer Rim, Leyla and her Padawan was ambushed and her young apprentice was killed in the attempt of protecting himself. Leyla was lucky to survive the ambush and escape off the planet. Without the body of her dead Padawan.
After this incident, the Council questioned Leyla for days about her actions and put her under a close watch for some time. She was heartbroken about loosing her Padawan, to the concern of the Council, and one of the reasons why she was watched. But in the end, she had had enough of it. Tired of being watched and interrorgated all the time, she turned over her lightsaber to Master Yoda and left the temple to spend some time away from the other Jedis, living in exile kind on Naboo for five years.
When she learned that Na'tok had passed on, she returned to the temple, to take part in his memorial ceremony. At first, that was the only reason she came back. But after spending a week back at the temple, she realised, that she was ready to come back and involve herself in the Order once.
The Council welcomed her back, and she was shortly thereafter given the rank of Master. The council was now convinced, that she was worthy of the title, after getting through the loss of her Padawan, and what she had achieved in the past. It was during this ceremony, that Master Yoda returned her lighsaber to her, with the words, that she should use it with great care and precaution in the future. She took those words in very deeply, and has ever since rarely even ignited it.
She was assigned to be one of the Jedi-Teachers aboard the Chu''unthor, where she still is, where she enjoys spending time with the Younglings and giving them guidance.
