Name: Kad Jeba’ya
Age: 36
Race: Human (Mandalorian)
Sex: Male
Place of birth: Concordia
Height: 1, 88 M
Weight: 87 kg
Eye colour: Green
Hair colour: Dark
Profession: Bounty Hunter with a grudge against Jedi
Languages: Basic, Mando’a
Civil status: Married, daughter aged three
Appearance:
Kad is a muscular human slightly higher than average. He has green eyes and his dark hair is cut short in an almost military fashion. A warrior and farmer, his body has been shaped by years of hard labour and life-risking exercises.
Running down across the right side of his chest is a large scar with at least a dozen more spread out over his body, most of them from injuries sustained during combat.
He is usually dressed in his beskar’gam - the traditional mandalorian armour – which in his case is almost completely black except for a few green stripes on his left shoulder and chest. He is always carrying an impressive amount of firepower and wears a heavy duty belt containing everything from rations to magnetic grappling hooks. Furthermore, he carries his sword, his blaster and a green bladed lightsaber.
He does have a cloak large enough to conceal most of his body but only uses it in places where a fully armoured Mandalorian would draw too much attention.
Beneath his armour he is dressed in his black bodysuit of the kind normally found on military personnel. He can however dress himself to resemble a civilian even though he looks a bit more fit than most people.
Personality:
When it comes to understanding a man like Kad (or perhaps Mandalorians in general) it is a subject that many have failed. He may have killed people but he doesn’t necessarily see that as a bad thing and he certainly doesn’t lose any sleep over it. He may meet the end of his existence the following day but he never spends his time worrying about it. Finally, he may seem like a brutal savage but one could never be more wrong. The ferocity with which he battles his enemies is more than outmatched by the love he shows for his family, and to just take him for a heartless killer would be a mistake.
Kad is driven by a strong sense of what is right or wrong and this (perhaps misdirected) sense of justice guides many of his actions. He is not unkind to anyone without a good reason and once someone gets close enough to him to peel through the layer of hardened psychological defensive shielding, he is just a man, complete with feelings, hopes and dreams.
However, Mandalorian culture dictates that the most important things are looking out for yourself, your family, your friends and your Mandalorian brothers. Aruetiise [outsiders] are not to be trusted and this axiom makes it very hard to get close to him.
No matter how kind or mean he is towards others, the mere mention of the word “Jedi” turns everything around. Kad has inherited a burning hate for the Jedi and the Republic, blaming them for the “decline” of the Mandalorian Empire and his family’s expulsion from Mandalore. When it comes to dealing with Jedi, he can be cold, efficient and ruthless.
In addition, his Mandalorian heritage has made him a very austere and practical man. Things are the way they are and a man must make do with what he has. He doesn’t crave for luxury nor is he a man of many possessions.
Background:
Kad was born 526 BBY in a small village on Concordia, the moon of Mandalore. He was born into a very different time for all Mandalorians. Some 200 years before, the Republic, with the aid of the Jedi Order, had devastated Mandalore ending a long and brutal war between the Mandalorians and the Republic.
The end of the war saw the rise of a new Mandalorian political movement. They called themselves “The New Mandalorians” and claimed that the only way to survive was to abandon the old ways of the warriors and embrace a pacifistic stand towards galactic politics. During this reformation most Mandalorian traditions were abolished.
Not every Mandalorian was satisfied with this outcome and many of the outspoken ones were exiled to Concordia. Here they kept the old traditions alive and passed this knowledge on through generations.
Life on Concordia was not easy. His forefathers settled in as farmers but many others ended up in the ever-growing mines, feeding the booming economy of Mandalore. Of course, the pro-Mandalore government on Concordia never did redistribute the wealth gained by selling the iron and the worn out miners worked in conditions more resembling some remote prison colony than a moon at the heart of what had once been the centre of the Mandalorian Empire.
Both of Kad’s parents were children of Mandalorians who had been exiled. The proud warrior sentiment hadn’t vanished and Kad was given a traditional Mandalorian upbringing, his father training him for combat from the age of six.
As another tradition dictated, Kad married rather young, his beautiful wife moving to the family farm. He spent many years working the soil alongside his family and perfecting his fighting skills.
It is not known when Kad left the family farm and took to bounty hunting for a living. It wasn’t an uncommon thing though. Even his father had taken on a contract from time to time. When he did he sent all the money not spent on maintaining and upgrading his armour (a family heirloom passed down through generations) back to his family.
In many years it never did strike Kad that he could hunt for Jedi as well. Until a Jedi Knight interfered with one of his contracts, Kad had yet to face such a skilled opponent. On a dark rainy night on a rooftop, Kad came closer to death than he had ever been. He emerged victorious, the Jedi’s lightsaber now dangling from his hips.
Kad is not a man who boasts about his kills and it is unknown how many people he has killed so far and how many of them have been Jedi. His only trophy and proof of a kill is the one lightsaber he always carries with him.
Nowadays, Kad spends most of his time as a mercenary and gun-for-hire. He travels the galaxy looking for credits to send home. His wife is in charge of the farm, taking care not only of her parents-in-law but also her and Kad’s three year old daughter.
Abilities:
Kad is a soldier and has been for the most of his life. He is fit, fast, agile and a very dangerous opponent. He can survive even the harshest conditions and endure pain that would leave others crippled.
He is intelligent and handles most situations with calm efficiency and creative solutions.
He is an expert swordsman wielding a beskad – a traditional Mandalorian sword. A short sword (about half the length of a lightsaber) the beskad is perfect for close-quarter-combat and since it is made of the valuable Mandalorian iron – beskar – it has a natural resistance to lightsabers.
With extensive combat training Kad can handle most weapons and explosives but prefers his sturdy Mandalorian Heavy blaster when it comes to taking care of targets at range.
Furthermore, his beskar’gam comes with optimized circuits and advanced heads-up display. It offers him protection and a wide range of combat information.
He can use the lightsaber he is carrying but deems it clumsy and inferior to his own sword.
Weaknesses:
Even though Kad is a terrifying foe and a well tuned killer, he is not immortal. His armour can take both lightsaber slashes and blaster hits but repeated assault with either will quickly penetrate it. It does not offer any protection when it comes to heat, cold and concussive trauma and especially the latter is a major drawback when it comes to fighting Jedi. In order to counter various attacks with the Force, Kad will often use aggressive manoeuvres, trying to pin his opponent down with close, dirty and extremely lethal tactics.
