So, when we look at it fair and square and all, we have 4 "factions"
The Republic
The Jedi
The Fallen Jedi
The Space slugs
and then of course there's always the random mix of characters, who don't really belong anywhere.
First things first.
The Republic: Naturally, the Republic are the ones controlling the Galaxy. The head of the Republic is the Supreme Chancellor Tanari Sytar, and she's doing her best to keep the Republic together in these times of troubles. Outwards, the Republic stands united, but there are certain disagreements on how to deal with this new threat. Tanari Sytar personally thinks the best solution would be to destroy the rumoured weapon, but there is a huge pressure on her, as most senators actually believe in using it against the Fallen Jedi.
Many civilians are displeased with the way the Republic are dealing with the Fallen Jedi, and believe that more should be done to stop them. People are afraid.
The Jedi: As they always have been, the Jedi serve as peacemakers and negotiators throughout the galaxy. However, the senate and the Jedi don't exactly see eye to eye in this new matter, as the Jedi do not believe that using the weapon against the Fallen Jedi is the right path. Senior council member Chapaa'ai is doing his best to meditate peace between the senate and the Jedi, but things are not as good as they could have been.
The Fallen Jedi: The number one bad guy (s) in the galaxy at the moment. The number of the Fallen Jedi, have grown to an alarming number in the past years, and now it would seem that they are no longer "just" Fallen, but are walking dangerously near the path of the Dark Side. It is suspected that this group has viped out the entire population of Jandoon. It is unknown as to how they have done it, but it is suspected that they have received help from a recently awakened Rakata that have also provided them with information about the ancient weapon that the whole galaxy now seems to be searching for.
The Space Slugs: This group of pirates, smugglers, bounty hunters and runaway slaves are becoming bigger and more feared by the day. The group is led by Dia'Talkina, a beautiful but deadly Twi'lek, and her bodyguard and second in command, a muscular Nautolan. This group of total outcasts have allied themselves with the Fallen Jedi, and are raiding republic ships to obtain suplies for their new allies. Whereas the civilians of the Republic are having a hard time, these guys are likely to be having the time of their lives.
