Name: Trace Raydawn
Age: 26
Homeplanet: Sevarcos II
Species: Sevari (human)
Language: Galactic basic, huttese and bocce
Appearance:
Height: 1,83 m
Weight: About 80
Haircolour: Golden brown to dark blonde
Eyecolour: Grey
Trace of average height and quite slender built. He has a few visible muscles, but doesn't appear muscular in any way. He has the body of a person who relies more on speed, than on actual physical strength.
Trace is actually a quite good looking guy. His smile is one of the most charming things about him, and Trace smiles a lot. His face has a few sharp lines, especially around his nose and jawline, and he has to shave everyday to keep his face clean of any beard. Most of the time he does, but sometimes he just.... forgets. Trace is not a man who cares for the way he looks. He just like to keep it simple, casual and plain.
Trace has half-legth goldenbrown hair, the longest of it reaching the middle of his neck . It is quite messy, and he often have to pull it away from his eyes.
He wears a very plain, traditional jedi tunic in light grey colours. He does have a few traditional robes in his closet, but he needs a very good reason to wear it. He finds it inconveniently, unless he has to dress for cold weather. His boots and belt are both brown, and the only weapon he wears is, ofcourse, his singlebladed lightsaber. The hilt of his weapon is a quite simple, silvercoloured cyllinder, and the blade is bright blue. Trace is right handed, and uses only one hand when he fights.
Personality:
Trace is not a very easy person to figure out. He is in some way quite reserved, and it takes a lot to really get to know him - in another way, he is very outgoing, very easy to talk to, and very down to earth. He seems relaxed and confident at the same time, and he has a good sense of humor (some would perhaps disagree in the last point). He never looses his temper or raises his voice. He is allways very honest and straightforward, but he tries not to take himself to serious. Pride and arrogance kills every chance of developing. Because of his outgoing attitude, some would might get the impression that Trace is unserious. The truth is, though, that Trace is actually very clever, considerate and thoughtfull young man. He is courius by nature and thinks a lot about almost everything. When facing a problem, he allways tries to stay as objective and open-minded as possible. He puts an honor in never being judgemental or biased, wich he learned from his first master . He is curious by nature, and gaining knowledge has allways been his ambition, even though he finds the archives kind of... boring. He is of the opinion that gaining experience and knowledge from the real world, can be just as good as old datapads. Trace also enjoys a good discussion, and can discuss the same subjekt over and over again for hours, if he is allowed.
Trace is basicly a good guy. He is very consious and protective to others, especially those he finds weaker or more vulnerable than him, and offcourse the people he cares about. He takes responsebillity very serious, wich is also why he is very careful not to take more responsebillity, than he can handle. He would rather risk his own life than put others in danger.
As any jedi, Trace looks up to the ones who are older and wiser than him, but he never follows an order or and instruction blindly. He is very individual, and consider every message he is giving, before he reacts to it. He tries to treat every person he encounters with the same respect, for respect is an issue of most importance to Trace. Some might get him wrong in this, because of his tendency of allways speaking his mind, never holding his opinion back, even when facing a much older and far more experienced Master. He will allways admit being wrong, if he is, but he also craves his right to say his opinion, if the matter concerns him.
Trace only uses the Force when it is necessary. He is not the kind of jedi, who uses the force for everyday stuff like opening doors or reaching the butter. According to him, using the Force should allways be done with care and responsebillity, and never ”just because we can”. He has very strong opinions in this matter.
But despite his individual way of thinking, Trace is not really a rebellious soul. He is very loyal to the order and the counsil, and he hates power struggles above anything else.
Skills and talents:
Trace has allways been quite a mediocre student. He is skilled with a lightsaber, but not the best, he is strong in the force, but not the strongest, and he has never really struggled to be. You can't accuse him for being arrogant or ambitious. Don't get him wrong: Trace is allways doing the best, he can, but being the most powerful just never meant that much to him. Trace's real talents lie in his way of thinking and acting. When it is requested, he has a patience allmost worthy a jedi master, and he has a talent for keeping his mind calm and focused, never losing his temper, never losing control (of himself... He has been known to lose control with a few other things).
Trace is not an excellent pilot; He is a good pilot, but again not the best. The problem is that he tends to fly as if he was.
As any other sevari, Trace also has immunity to spice.
Background:
Trace was born very far away on what seems to be a rather insicnificant, deserted planet. It is known to the rest of the galaxy as Sevarcos II, and the inhabitants keep most to themselves. They are spice-miners living in a clan-society, and their culture is considered very conservative and primitive compared to other, more civilized worlds. It was only a coinsidence when the twi'lek jedi master Ayasari visited the planet, and discovered Trace to be force-sensitive. He was only three years old, and it took some persuasion to make his parents give him away to a strange (it seemed rather strange to them) and probably dangerous future, out there in the big galaxy. But they were, as the most, in the end persuaded, and Trace was brought to the temple on Coruscant to begin his new life.
As a youngling, Trace was rather restless and unconcentrated. He never sat still or kept his mouth shut when he had to. Some came to the conclusion that it was a permanent trait in his character, and that it would cause him (or them) trouble in the future.
As he grew older, Trace showed to be a both intelligent young boy and a curious soul. Trace thought about everything. In class as a youngling, he would often be the one to ask funny (but obviously well consideret) questions. Some masters still thought of him as a brat. - a ticking bomb, because they confused Trace's outgoing an curious nature with unpredictability. Offcourse, Trace did occasionally get himself into trouble. Once he ”reaorganised” half of the achieves, because, as he said, he was studying, but suddently couldn't remember were the datapads' usually were placed. It was an accident, offcourse. Just like the time when he accidentily crashed a speeder on the temple's roof. But, well... boys will be boys, right?
But it turned out to be nothing but a phase that Trace (as many other human boys) had to grow away from. And eventually he did.
In time Trace also became very aware of his own identi Knowning that he was born into a conservative and isolated culture, he startet focussing on being the exact opposite. He was afraid that his people's way of thinking was not only sociological , but also genetic, and he decided to learn to be as open-minded as possible. Therefore he startet to spend much time with the human jedi master Farran Kuoni, who was known for his individual and objective way of thinking. It was quite obviuos that Trace could learn a lot from Master Kuoni, and when Trace was about 12, Kuoni also took him as his padawan learner.
In the first years Trace and Kuoni had their ”base” on the ship Chu'unthor, and traveled across the galaxy. Trace loved it. Before he left the temple, Trace had never really experienced the galaxy, and in his new life as padawan, Trace's curiousity grew with each new experience and each new world.
Master Kuoni had a very rare way of thinking, especially for a jedi master. He was in many ways what people consider a ”grey” jedi, or atleast he eventually proved himself to be.
Everyone new, that Kuoni was, and had always been, a ”rebel” in many ways. He didn't really believe in the dark or light side, but thought that it was an illusion made up by the order, because they were too afraid of facing thier own weakness (yes, he actually did say that once...). He said, that having a padawan truly made him in contact with himself and see everything clearer. The order was toostrict, thier rules were outdated and narrow, even discriminating at some points. Trace did, however, learn a lot of useful lessons from his master, for Kuoni never meant to poison his padawans mind, he only wanted to teach him to ”think for himself”.
And then, one rainy evening (offcourse it was rainy..), Master Kuoni told his padawan, that he was going to leave the order. He also asked Trace to come with him, but assured him that it was his own choice. And Trace refused. He couldn't leave the order. Unlike his master, Trace thought that just because he sometimes disagread with the counsil, it didn't necessarily mean that they couldn't cooperate. After all, no jedi are completely alike, they are all individuals, even though they are part of an order. So Trace decided to stay and complete his training as a real jedi.
It was a hard strike on the young man (who was only 17) to be abbandoned by his own master, and for a long time, Trace kept most to himself. Mostly because he was confused, an actually doubted that he had made the right choice. He didn't talk much with the masters about it, since he was afraid of their reaktion. Some of the masters did also expect Trace to follow in his masters steps, and they watched him very carefully while they discussed what to do about him. Ind the end they decided that Master Ayasari, the twi'lek jedi who brought Trace to the temple, should take over and complete his training. She was in anyway the opposite of Master Kuoni, a very strict and ortodoks
follower of the jedi code, but it turned out to be exactly was Trace needed to get ”back on track”. His confusion and insecurity passed, but he also startet to be more responsible. He had in many ways felt that he was ”left alone” when Master Kuoni left the order, and he never got the same bond to Ayasari as to his first master. He still felt, that he was on his own, an Ayasari was to him more a guide than a teacher.
Some of the masters still feared, that Trace would turn out to be like Master Kuoni, and didn't really trust him for a long time. Some of them still don't. Especially not in these hard times, where too many young jedi already have fallen.
But young Trace had made his decission, and in the end he proved himself worthy off the council's trust. He was knighted 3 years ago, when he was about 23 years old.
Trace still struggles very hard to convince everyone that he is not like his old master, that he definately isn't ”grey”, that he definately won't leave the order, and that he most certainly won't join the Fallen. in the past he's often been compared to the likes of Keith Flare and Derek Arnau, and he's growing really tired of it
