Name: Vidal Estragó Peños
Race: Sullustan, male
Age: 57 years
Height: 1,70 m
Weight: 96 kg
Hair colour: White with a shine of grey
Eye colour: Black
Homeplanet: Sullust
Appearance:
From being young, slender and athletic in his youth Vidal has turned into a little, fat Sullustan with broad shoulders, arms the size of tree chunks and a large belly which is the most noticeable trait about him. He is balled on the top of his head, his thin, white hair centred on his big ears, and has a little goatee. His face is harsh and weather-beaten, filled with wrinkles from both age and experience. Many people would mistake Vidal for being an old fool who has never left the kitchen, he seems to live in. But those close to Vidal know better. His eyes are intelligent and always alert of any potential danger - a trait from his life as a fighter pilot in the Republic Navy. His fat, clumsy figure is not to be underestimated. Through years of fighting and hard work Vidal has grown considerably strong and is an opponent worthy of notice, especially in hand-to-hand-combat. His tree chunk arms are not just made of pure fat.
You can hear Vidal from afar, whenever he speaks up. His voice is deep and bellowing with an accent of Sullustan to his Basic. Sometimes he places the pressure on the wrong letters in a word. He does that often, if he’s angry. That can be caused by someone trying entering his kitchen and messing things up. He curses worse than the most bloodthirsty Pirate, when he is really angry.
In the kitchen onboard the Jedi ship Chu’unthor, where he spends most of his time, Vidal wears a dark-green T-shirt, dirty, brown, baggy pants and a white (or mostly anything but white) apron with a huge knife and a blaster in the front pocket. Outside the kitchen he wears boots like any other crew member, but in the kitchen is an entirely different matter – here he wears slippers. In a time of battle he carries a blaster rifle on his back. Even in the kitchen, though he prefers to separate war and cooking from each other.
Personality:
Vidal found his true passion in life when discovering the art of cooking, and he gave up his career as a fighter pilot to be the Master Chef on board Chu’unthor. A choice he has not come to regret, not even once. There is always a big, jolly smile on his smile, when he works in his kitchen. He is very friendly, helpful and enjoys a good laugh. As long as you’re not mocking his food. He has a very bad temper and has more than once chased unlucky intruders out of his kitchen. Even if the intruder should turn out to be a Jedi. Though Vidal can have bad days, when he seems to be angrier than a Sith Lord with only white clothes left in his closet, he doesn’t mean anything by it, and he will most likely apologize the next time somebody enters his kitchen. He has a great respect for the Jedis and is honoured to cook for them. There is a good, loyal friend to be found in him, and he never refuses to assist with his abilities in troubled times. He still knows how to pilot a fighter and shoot with a blaster.
Though he serves the Jedi, Vidal finds great pleasure in drinking, playing Sabaac or just hanging out in the cantinas, whenever he can. His little habits do not inflict his work, though. He is always serious about his cooking.
Vidal has travelled a lot in his youth and knows many stories and tales of the galaxy.
Background:
Vidal was born and raised in a wealthy family on Sullust. His parents were both medics and expected their children to follow the same path, as they themselves had chosen when entering the adulthood. But compared to his brothers and sisters, Vidal was different. He grew up with an ambition and the abilities to be a hot-shot pilot, and whenever he had the chance, he tried to train to become a pilot. He even jumped of the roof of the house once. He spent three days in a bacta tank, but as soon as he got out, he was practically climbing up on the roof again.
When he was old enough, he went to the military Academy and had his dream fulfilled. Here he graduated among many others into the Republic Fleet. He soon became an ace fighter pilot and served the Republic through many battles. Whenever he had leave, he travelled the galaxy around to explore the wonders of the universe with the same astonishment as a child.
Vidal made an admirable career as a fighter pilot, until he one day felt, that it was time to move on. He had reached the age of forty and still had all his limps intact and only a few scars to remind him of the battles, he had put himself through. And he felt himself drawn to something else: Cooking. In his time of serving he had always complained about the quality of the food served to the pilots every day, and now was the time to do something about it. He retired and started to study the arts of cooking. It was a long way to go, from being a fighter pilot to become a cook, but Vidal was stubborn, and he made it. His first job was onboard the Republic star cruiser, Peashooter, and here he stayed as the chief cook for almost five years. After that he travelled around in the galaxy, working here and there and learned new kinds of meals from other cultures.
When he returned to Coruscant, he was offered to cook for the Jedi Order. Vidal was a great admirer of the Jedi, Defenders of Freedom and Justice, and Protectors of the weak. He had spent time with Jedi Knights before during his service in the Fleet, during battle and times of peace. And heroes like that needed good food. He didn’t hesitate to accept the offer.
Vidal was made the Master Chef of Chu’unthor and still is today, enjoying his work as he always has.
Abilities:
Vidal is an experienced pilot and soldier, but his gift in life truly lies in cooking. However, he sometimes enjoys experimenting a little bit by mixing ingredients. These experiments can have positive – and negative results.
