Krehtsturm stood stiffly at attention. The Defense Committee was filled to the brim with underquaified Senators snarling at each other, Krehtsturm thought. They had turned his request for the manufacture of starships into a political debate- one that the various factions of the senate were even now refusing to agree on. To Krehtsturm's right, Admiral Stazimon, one of the top ranking naval officers, let out a quick, and almost inaudible sigh. Krehtsturm shifted slightly, his eyes looking out to the rodian senator that was currently pointing out how the request was inherintly racist aganst non-humans. Krehtsturm almost growled. "Permission to speak, Admiral?" Krehsturm mumbled, barely audible under the monotonous drawl of the rodian's speech. "Permisssion denied, Captain," the weathered Admiral replied, equally quiet. Krehtsturm's upper lip twitched. The Republic needed ships, and it needed them fast.

Talia has been sitting quietly in her seat, listening to the proposal that the Captain gave and then the ongoing argument, between her fellow senators.
Feeling that the conversation is getting out of hand, she stands and raises her voice, to stop the arguing.
"This continued arguing, leads us nowhere. We are moving away from the important facts." She turns her head to the Rodian, with a serious glance.
"The creation of ships to the Republic will be for the benefit of protecting its citizens, all species a like. Which is the most important factor for us to put into consideration."

"Thank you, Senator Casar," Krehsturm said, bowing his head slightly. He turned back to the gathered senators. "With the complete outsourcing of these ships to Kuat, Rendili, and Balmorra, we will have a fleet large enough to combat this threat within he year. Already, academies on Carida and Anaxes have been opened so that officers can be trained and an army built," Stazimon said, his voice strong and loud. "Furthermore, with the creation of a combat fleet, we will be able to launch a direct assault against Jandoon and defeat the Fallen Jedi in one quick and painless swoop," Krehtsturm continued. Several senators looked at each other, unsure. "What will be the collatoral damage? How many people will die?" asked one senator near the back of the room. The others shifted. "We cannot safely say, however whatever the risk, we are willing to take it in order to bring peace to the galaxy," Krehtsturm said firmly. Stazimon placed a hand on his arm. "Senators, we are not forcing anyone to join our army, we are simply enlisting any who are willing to preserve the Republic. Only volunteers will be trained for this mission," Stazimon said, his voice softer. Krehtsturm nodded, looking over the various senators, his eyes stopping for a brief second on Casar. Again he noded with a smile.

Talia nodds approvingly to Krehsturm, before sitting back down and listens to his words.
When no one else is saying anything, she speaks again.
"The situation with the Fallen has already done enough damage and we will have to do something about it. What the Captain and the Admiral has suggested is as good a suggestion as any. Besides, the Jedi will be needing the help this can give. And as long as we're not forcing anyone to pick up a blaster and fight, there is nothing morally wrong it. It's about time that something should be done against the Fallen. Who else agrees?"

Of the fifteen assembled senators, all but five voted in favor of the motion, four abstained, and the rodian voted against. With that, Stazimon gave a short speech about how much this would help the Republic. The Senators rose and slowly began to make their way to the door. Krehtsturm shook hands with several of them as they left. The Rodian beelined for the door and was gone without a word. Krehtsturm looked out after him, but didn't see him go. He continued over to Senator Casar. "Thank you, Senator, if it hadn't been for you it's quite possible that we wouldn't be getting new ships. I appreciate it," he said.

As the assembled splits up, Talia gathers her things and talks shortly to her assistant, as Krehtsturm approaches her. She sends the assistant away and turns to answer him.
"I did what was right." She nodds to him. "There's probably going to be a lot of debate and protest against it from the public. But that's understandable, when we've had centuries of not needing an army or fleet."

"Yes, the ends justify the means, Senator. Keep reminding the Senate that we're doing what is right for the galaxy. Even if we won't all survive to live in it," Krehsturm said, his face grim. Stazimon approached the two, nodding to the Senator. "Captain, prepare yourself for action, I'm planning on sending you on the first of our expiditionary patrols." Krehtsturm saluted the Admiral and nodded to the Senator. "Thank you again, Senator."

Talia nodds to them both. "Please keep the Senate informed on your progress."
She turns to walk towards her assistant, who waits by the door and exits the room.
