In one of the many conference rooms, a press conference is taking place in which some grey and dull politicians are yapping on to the journalists about politics and economics and whatnot.
Among the journalists is a diminutive elegantly yet practically dressed Rybet. While most journalists focus their attention on the blabbering politicians, the Rybet seems to be continually scanning the crowd as if he were actually observing the crowd rather than listening to the politicians trying to answer all kinds of questions.
Mitker Forg is, in fact, not at all interested in the politicians - nor in his journalist colleagues themselves. He has gone to the Senate every day for two weeks now, but he is not investigating any political affair or scandal at all. He is there looking for Jedi - fallen or otherwise - for he is on a mission: uncovering the truth about the rumors of the fallen Jedi. So far, he has only observed a few Jedi in the Senate. He has not approached them yet, and he might not even do that. For the time being, he is just observing them, their attitudes, their mannerisms, well, everything he can think of. So far, there's been nothing unusual about them, but he does sense a certain urgency.
He decides to ask the politicans a question... the sort of question that might get him some attention from the right people. He politely raises his hand to indicate he has a question.

The Elomin Senator raises his hand, to get the attention of the crowd.
"I do believe that there is a question" He nods down towards Mitker and lowers his hand.

"Ah yes, thank you senator", the Rybt clears his throat before asking. "I have two related questions. Firstly, as numerous observers in various capacities have pointed out, the increase in criminal activities, such as smuggling, trafficking, and especially piracy - as we know, many central trade routes are stalked by pirates, and pirate raids take place almost daily - is seriously affecting the Galactic economy. I was wondering if you as a representative of the authorities can comment on this. Are measures against this, or least being planned? And, secondly, Yaran Tarmas wrote in his weekly column in The Corellia Times yesterday that it was remarkably interesting that the increase in piracy and criminal activities in general seems to have started just around the same time as the rumors of the Fallen Jedi started circulating. Do you think there is a connection between the increase in crome and the alleged group called the Fallen Jedi? And has the Jedi liasion in the Senate commented on this? Do you know if the existence of the Fallen Jedi can actually be confirmed?"

The senator broad smile stiffens, and he hesitates for a split second.
"Erhm. Yes First of all, we are doing all that we can to prevent these attacks" his voice resumes it confidence as he speaks. "Our Supreme Chancellor is at daily meetings with the head of our security forces, to device a list of precautions, to follow so that the people of the republic can travel safer across this galaxy." He clears his throat. "The head of security is doing all he can, he is calling in more man power so that we can stop these pirates, this disgrace and thorn in our side and to the people of the republic."

The Rybet journalist enters some notes into his datapad while nodding, as the senator is speaking. When the senator has finished, he says "Thank you senator, I am sure such a list would be a good idea. But how about taking direct action? Incresing policing etcetera? And do you have any comments on the alleged connection between the rumors of the Fallen Jedi and the increasing piracy activity?"

"As I said the head of security is calling in every able body, to increase security, both in space and on the planets. So that the people of the republic can continue to be safe...."
He clears his throat again.
"As for the other part of you question, you'll have to talk to the jedis as they are more engaged in the matter that surrounds the subject of fallen jedi"

The Rybet smiles politely and says "Thank you, senator, for your answers. A shame there are not representatives of the Jedi liaision to the Senate present today." He pauses, "But that you for taking your time to answer my questions". He sits down and enters some more information into his datapad.
The Senator obviously knew something about the Fallen Jedi affair. Or at least suspected a connection. Otherwise he would not have brushed off the question like that. What's more, the Rybet thought to himself, the Senator also confirmed that the Jedi are involved in this affair already... whatever the nature of the affair is. I guess I have to find some Jedi and talk to them, the Rybet mentally tells himself.
He decides to stay at the press conference for some time yet to see if his questions provoked any sort of reaction in the audience.

Some of the other journalists, turns to looks at the Rybet when he sits, some frowns others seem genuinely interests in what he asked about, some seemed to dislike him. But no one makes a move perhaps they don't want to show interest in such a public place.

As Mitker expected, there's some subtle stirring in the crowd of journalists, but not more than that. The Rybet concludes that, at least, some of the other journalists are at some level interested in the whole affair, and perhaps some of these also suspect a connection of some sort between the increase in piracy and the Fallen Jedi rumors.
He stays for another thirty minutes. Thirty minutes at most, he thinks to himself, then I'd better go and grab some lunch.

In the corner of the conference room a door opens, and a tall, silverhaired woman steps in. She is dressed in a light blue gown, floating around her as she moves, making one think of small studders over still water. Her grey blue eyes wanders over the crowd of journalists, before focusing on the Senators speaking. She nods silently at them as a greeting, then she moves further into the room.

The diminutive Rybet is just about to get up and leave the room, when he notices the newcomer. Something interesting is bound to happen, he thinks, the flysoup will have to wait.
He keeps his eyes on the newcomer, carefully observing her.

The Elomin Senator stiffens yet again, but this time it's it's the sight of the newcomer, it may appear that he doesn't like the Naboo senator.
Some of the journalist in the back turns to see who have entered. a Kel Dor journalist steps forward towards the senator from Naboo. "Do you have any comments on the increased Piracy in the core worlds?"

Aeré Jupal stops and turns a bit, facing the journalist asking the question. She smiles politely. "I'm sure that my dear collegue has said everything that needs to be said in that matter," she answers. "But let there be no doubt, we are doing anything possible to secure the Core World from these Pirates." There is a sharp look in her grey eyes, as she speaks, as if they were made of pure steel. Having finished what she has to say, she nods at the Elomin Senator to let him know that this is his press conference. Not hers. He'll have to control the journalists.

The Rybet stands up and says "Senator, how about the rumors of the Fallen Jedi? What if they are true and the Fallen Jedi really pose a threat to the citizens of the Galactic Republic", directed at the newly arrived senator.

Senator Jupal stiffens for a brief moment. Maybe not enough for the journalists to notice, but she seems to react to the words 'Fallen Jedi'. "Then I'm sure...." The grey eyes wanders over the journalists in front of her, before focusing their steel gaze on the Rybet asking the question. "... that the Jedi Order will prove itself... useful... and cooperate in removing these threats." She smiles politely at the crowd again, then turns away to leave the room.

The Elomin senator clears his throat yet again.
"As! - I said, if you want to know about any kind, fallen or standing -" There's a little murmur and mumbling about his jedi joke and he smiles satisfied " - you should talk to the jedi, they take care of jedi business!" he seems a little strained, it bothers him that, that question keeps popping up.

The diminutive Rybet enters some more information into his datapad, and then gets up and walks quietly out of the room.
"Time for some food", he mumbles to himself.

Senator Jupal makes her way through the crowd of journalists. A little frown is starting to show on her brow, as if she's having some deep thoughts about something. Then she looks at the Rybet leaving the conference room. Fallen Jedi, hm??
Aeré leaves the conference room and dials the number of her secretary on her commlink. Maybe there is a little whole for her to slip through today..
