The Year is 490 BBY and the galaxy is at relative peace. The Jedi functions as meditators when conflicts arise and the senate seems to function well. Tana Sytar is the current Supreme Chancellor, and people seem to be very fond of her and have great trust in her decisions.
The Jedi Council has one concern however. Lately, a large number of Jedi have "Fallen" - they have decided to leave the order. More disturbing is the fact that these Fallen Jedi have been linked to what seems to have been a total wipe-out of the population on the planet of Jandoon.
It all started out as what seemed to be a regular disagreement between the government of Jandoon and some new settlers, and the Jedi Koreen was sent out to investigate and possibly mediate between the disagreeing parties.
However, when Koreen arrived, it soon became clear to her that the new settlers were not just ordinary emigrants, but a large group of Fallen Jedi, and, to her horror, it seemed the were prone to using the dark side of the force. She immediately contacted the council to report on the situation, and that was the last they heard from her. She had decided to try mediate despite the indications of them having fallen to the dark side, and it was clear she had been unsuccesful.
The Jedi Council sent another Jedi - a Master, this time, but from Calon, they only received one report, when he was still in orbit around Jandoon. He called the council to inform them of some strange shapes, floating around in the space around Jandoon, when the transmission was interrupted by his death scream.
The Council then knew that something had gone terribly wrong at Jandoon, and all attempts to contact the King were in vain. So far, no one who left for Jandoon has returned again, and people are starting to get worried.
People disagree a lot more than they used to, as some feel the senate is not doing enough to find a solution to the Jandoon problem. A group called The Space Slugs have even aligned themselves with the Fallen Jedi on Jandoon, and sometimes raid business ships to bring the goods to their new allies. It is said they also wish to overthrow the senate.
And more groups are showing up all over the galaxy. Some in favor of the Fallen Jedi, som against them, but the fact is the senate and Jedi are having more trouble keeping people at peace.
It is rumoured across the galaxy that the strange shapes surrounding Jandoon is actually the spectres of the Jandoon population, and that they can't find eternal rest, because the Fallen Jedi violently wiped them out. But if that is true - with what did they do it then?
The situation is getting more tense everyday, smuggler's and pirates seem to be living good in these times of trouble, whereas the diplomats, Jedi and senators are working harder than they have in years to keep everything at peace - and finding out what is wrong.
And of course, there's still the everyday man and woman, who are just minding their own business.
