"So, has anyone -ever- wondered if the light actually does turn off inside the fridge when you close the door?"
A'Lyra's lekku twitch eagerly as she speaks
"I mean, everybody says it does, but how does anyone actually know for sure? I mean, it could just be something that grown-ups tell you, just to pull your lek, couldn't it?"
A'Lyra jumps up and down with excitement
"I mean, grown-ups tell you all kinds of weird things that's not true. Like vegetables are good for you, or you get babies from sleeping in the same room as a boy, and such. So, how does one know the thing about the light isn't just a lie too?? That's right, you don't!!"
A'Lyra grins widely
"So I decided to test it!"
The other younglings stare at her, wide-eyed
"you didn't..."
A'Lyra nods
"I did too! One day, when Vidal was cooking dinner, I snuck into the kitchen, which was really hard in itself. Getting into the fridge weas even harder, and I wouldn't have gotten the door closed, if I hadn't made Jibev help me - which he really didn't want to do, because he said it was really cold inside, and I would get sick. And he also said Vidal would get really, really mad, but I told him Vidal never got mad at me, which is true, because when he finally opened the door, he started yelling at Jibev and blamed him for accidentally closing his little teapot into the fridge. And Jibev, he get really sad, and I tried to tell Vidal that it wasn't Jibev's fault, but I was soooo cold...."
A'Lyra nods seriously
"So, I learned a lot of things. The light actually does turn off when you close the door, and you -do- get sick from sitting in there. Also, I learned that Vidal almost gets a heart attack when he finds children in his fridge. And I learned that Jibev is actually right sometimes!"
